A CONSORTIUM OF COMPLEMENTARY EXPERTISE

PADICTON consortium brings together an expert team of four partners coming from UK and Belgium. Most of the participants have been involved in development works relative to Additive Manufacturing for aerospace as well as for other applications, which are directly relevant to AIR- IADP objectives. In the Clean Sky Projects the Topic Manager is responsible for negotiating the technical scope with the consortium as well as monitoring the progress to meet the project’s goals.

TWI will coordinate the project and will the activities related to material characterization and dissemination and exploitation. TWI is one of the world’s foremost independent research and technology organisations with expertise in materials joining and engineering processes. Established in Cambridge, UK, in 1946 and with several facilities across the globe, TWI is one of Europe’s foremost independent research and technology organisations, employing 740 scientists, technologists, administrative and support staff worldwide (540 in UK and Europe) and with annual (2014) group turnover of 80£million (€94 million).

Brunel University London has been highly successful in creating industrial innovation research resources, including the Brunel Composites Innovation Centre (BCC). BCC sits between the knowledge base and industry, supporting partners in the industry to transfer academic research into industrial application. BCC specialises in novel composites processing and joining technologies , applied to industrial environments.

Formed in 2012, FDM Digital Solutions has been at the forefront of 3D printing, the latest revolution in manufacturing, which has grown to be one of the largest Additive Manufacturers in UK. With the largest commercially available FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) build envelopes and capacity in UK, also providing Roboze technology and now had the UK’s first commercially available HP MJF printer.
